104 doctors transferred, fear of collapse of health system in Comilla
More than a thousand doctors from various medical colleges and health institutes of the country have been transferred to district and upazila level hospitals to deal with the situation of coronavirus. Comilla Medical College (CMC) Hospital also has 104 doctors on the transfer list. The health sector of Comilla is fighting over this.
This has raised fears of closure of the hospital’s corona test lab and autopsy department. Many are claiming that this will break the medical system of Comilla.
According to sources, in a circular issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday (July 5), 22 doctors of the hospital have been transferred to Brahmanbaria District College and Hospital revealed that more than 600 patientsl Hospital. They have been asked to join the workplace on July 8. Otherwise, from July 6, they will be considered an immediate obstacle.
A search of Comilla Medical College and Hospital revealed that more than 600 patients were tested for corona every day in the lab. There are 15 doctors working in three teams. Each of the five teams has one head. Of these, 13 have been transferred. On Upazila Parishad Acting Chairman Anwar Hossain Bipul has continued to distribute food items Hospital. Even with the manpower that is available, one has to work hard to run the activities. Three doctors from the forensic medicine department have been transferred there.
The transfer will put the hospital’s burn unit, surgery, cancer, ICU and medicine departments in crisis. On the other hand, apart from Corona patients, more than eight hundred patients are admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital every day. Their medical services will also be disrupted.
Besides, there are more than seven hundred students in Comilla Medical College. Their online class-examination is going on. Their educational activities will also be disrupted.
Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Comilla General Secretary. Ataur Rahman Jasim said that the transfer was not discussed with the concerned organization. This will threaten the health sector of Comilla. Hopefully, the authorities will reconsider the matter.
Sadar Upazila Parishad Acting Chairman Anwar Hossain Bipul has continued to distribute food items and vegetables among the victims in Corona. Besides, distribution of cooked food has started from Tuesday (July 6). He is regularly assisting the victims under the direction of Jessore-3 MP Kazi Nabil Ahmed.
In the morning, Bipul distributed food items in Kachua Union of Sadar Upazila. He distributed these food items among the unemployed people of different professions as part of a continuous program. In addition, vegetables were distributed to more than 700 families in seven wards of the city.
Meanwhile, the distribution of cooked food has started from Tuesday. Anwar Hossain Bipul distributed the food among more than 100 people in Ward No. 9 of the city at noon. Local councilors Advocate Asaduzzaman Babul, Azizul Alam Mintu and others were present.
Earlier, food items were given in Arabpur Union and cash was given in Ichali Union.
Chairman of Lebutala Union Parishad Alimuzzaman Milon, Awami League leader Abu Musa Madhu, Mazharul Islam Mazhar, Shahiduzzaman Shahid, Abu Siddique, Abdul Wadud Mollah, lecturer Al Mahmud and others were present at the time.
Comilla Medical College Hospital Acting Director Prof. Rezaul Karim said the hospital is under pressure from patients in several districts. The hospital’s burn unit, surgery, cancer, ICU and medicine departments will be in crisis due to the transfer. Meanwhile, other patients besides corona patients are admitted here. We have informed the authorities about the crisis. Hopefully, they will consider the matter.
Asked about this, Comilla Medical College Principal Prof Mostafa Kamal Azad said, “We have talked to the ministry about the transfer.” They have asked us to write about it. Hopefully, the authorities will consider it in case of emergency.
Comilla Civil Surgeon. Mir Mubarak Hossain said, “We have informed the higher authorities about the transfer so that there is no problem in the healthcare of Comilla.” Hopefully, no service will be disrupted.
It may be mentioned that on Monday (July 5) the Ministry of Health has ordered the transfer and posting of about one thousand health cadres in one day and on Sunday (July 4) the day before.
